I was quite nervous starting this session, mainly because I have had little in the way of degi tech experiences. Meet, used it once. Google Doc’s, mucked around with a bit, not really enough to create anything noteworthy. Drive, managed to produce that cupboard that you close quickly before everything cascades out. Finding files within doc’s, just a hit and a miss.
I produced a start for a design brief in 1/10 of the time it took me to do the originally on word, once I saw it demonstrated it was straight forward and I’m sure I have only scratch the surface of what can be done.
Year 5 and 6 Geometric designs
String and pin designs
So, day one, confidence growing, learning a lot. Still a lot of questions but I will head to school tomorrow and talk to a few of the first cohort teachers.
Using split screens-I noticed others working on tasks and still in meet.
Creating my blog - I have had a blog page set up for me but it won’t allow me to enter anything without going back into a setup window ( blog name, url etc)
So next week it will be all go.
Recap
Didn’t really realize how far back the roots of this program run. I think even today its a great step forward, but back then it would have been a monumental shift.
For those who were inspired to push this through, what amazing people. The barriers they must have faced, people, money and politics.
Hi Steve,
ReplyDeleteIt is great to see you blogging! What an awesome start and I am pleased that you drafted your blog post in a google doc to support you whilst we sorted a few technical issues. Well done on your insightful reflections. I look forward to working with you on Thursday.
Thanks,
Latham
Kia ora Steve,
ReplyDeleteIt was great to meet you face to face on Friday and hear how the course has engaged you and made you want to learn more! I have no doubt that as you work your way through some of the other Google Tools via the DFI you will become their biggest advocate!
